For those seeking peace and quiet, with the bonus of a truly stunning location, the Aldeia Manga will prove very tempting.

Santo Antão’s most celebrated Ribeira Paul Valley is a good starting point for visitors who are here to do some serious hiking, or for those who want to ‘get away from it all’ and who are happy with limited facilities.

There are five individual bungalows and two large stone houses, all simply furnished and set in an enclosure that includes a garden and a small pool. The views down the valley are pretty spectacular. The construction of the property has been carried out sympathetically and the water supply is purified with ultraviolet light.

Breakfast is served, with jams made from the fruits of the garden, and a substantial buffet dinner can be ordered (in advance). Due to the Aldeia Manga’s rural location, we recommend staying on a half-board basis, but B&B is also available.

WiFi access is available for guests’ use.
