My favourite accommodation in Cape Verde
Without a doubt, the Hotel Morabeza is one of the best private hotels in Cape Verde.
The word ‘Morabeza’ is Portuguese for ‘hospitality’ and this is a hotel lives up to its name. Elegant and with excellent facilities and direct access to the beach, this establishment has evolved through three generations to become one of Cape Verde’s most desirable hotels.
With 140 rooms it’s one of Sal’s larger establishments, but it retains a personal feel with attentive, multilingual management and long-serving staff. Inside the hotel, you’re welcomed by a spacious and tasteful reception, featuring colourful local artworks.
The ensuite rooms (with shower or bath) all have a veranda with either a sea or garden view and have satellite TV, air conditioning, minibar, safe, telephone, hairdryer, WiFi connection. Cots are available on request.
As well as the recommended restaurants, which serve both Cape Verde and international dishes, the hotel has three bars, with the first-floor Tortue a popular venue for an evening cocktail.
The facilities are comprehensive, with spacious relaxation areas, three swimming pools, a games room, two tennis courts, archery, mini-golf and petanque. Yoga classes can also be arranged and there is children’s entertainment.
