We have many unique holidays to Cape Verde and a very popular one is our Fogo Discovery.
A week full of contrasts, which already starts when you approach Fogo from the air. Majestic Pico Grande towers over everything (even your plane when you approach the island), and on a clear day can also be seen from Santiago. Climb up the steep ridge to the top of this active volcano, with amazing views of the crater and the lava fields below.
Then run down the scree and ash slopes, back to your Casa, which was built on the hot lava floor after the most recent eruption in 2014. Wander through the cobbled streets of colourful of Sao Filipe and Mosteiros – and relax with a glass of local Fogo wine, whilst watching the sun go down over neighbouring island Brava.
Fly to Fogo and on arrival transfer to the Colonial Guesthouse in Sao Filipe where you will stay for one night. In the afternoon you could explore the pretty town with its pastel coloured houses and Sobrados (buildings from the Portuguese colonial era) architecture, along cobbled roads.
Meet your guide at the reception and transfer to the starting point of your hike today. During this hike along the Bordeira, you have the possibility to catch an impressive view of the volcano and the traces of the eruption of 2014. The higher you get, the more fascinating is the scenic panorama. It's important to be sure-footed, as you have to pass some slippery lava-fields. During the descend, you have a beautiful view over the south of Fogo Island and the Atlantic ocean. Lunch is included. Overnight at Casa Marisa for 2 nights.
You will have an early start this morning. From Casa Marisa it's only a 10 minute walk to the start of the climb. The hike is challenging and walking poles and gaiters are recommend. It can also be cold early in the morning, so don't forget to bring a hat, gloves and a windproof jacket. 4 to 6 hours. Lunch included.
After breakfast, you will be picked up again by your guide and this time you will go on a full day tour of the rest of the island. You will visit Cova Figueira, Mosteiros and Salinas before you head back again to Sao Filipe. Lunch is included today.
Fly back to Santiago where on arrival you will be picked up by your English speaking guide for a tour Praia city. This sprawling city where over half the of Cape Verde's population lives feels more African than any of the other islands. You start at the main square on the Plateau and walk among some imposing buildings like the Catholic cathedral, the Presidential palace and the statue of Diogo Gomes which overlooks the sea. Try not to lose sight of your guide when you're walking through colourful and bustling Sukopira market, a place full of merchandise and curiosities. Return to the Hotel Oasis Atlantico Praiamar where you will stay for two nights. The rest of the day is free.
Free day with a day room, until it's time for your transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home via Lisbon.

Great little company with friendly staff. Organisation of flights & accommodation very efficient. When problems arise they are helpful and very reasonable in their efforts to resolve them. We would definitely use them again for a return trip
