The desolate and atmospheric northern coast of Boavista seems an unlikely venue for an eco-lodge, yet the Spinguera has been created out of ruins of a farming and fishing settlement into a unique, small hotel in which the influence of its artist/creator

As well as its rooms, the hotel also has an apartment and two villas, allowing self-catering for those who prefer even more independence. Cooking ingredients can be ordered from the owner – essential, given the isolated location!

Spinguera prides itself on its eco-credentials and harmony with the local environment. Electricity is provided by a combination of solar power and a generator. Guests should note that there is no mobile phone coverage available here, though WiFi is available free of charge in the reception area and the lounge bar, which is open to non-residents. Guests wishing to dine in the restaurant are requested to pre-order their meals.

The coast is a mere 500 metres away from the hotel, though swimming is not advised in winter or in rough seas.
