The charming and family-run boutique-style Pousada Vassora is located on a ridge just outside Assomada.
From the pousada, you’ll have fantastic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks, and on a clear day, you can see even see the island of Maio. It’s also in the perfect spot to see the sunset on Fogo. The owners Jean and Julia are a French-Cape Verdean couple who live on the upper floor of the house.
Access is on an unmade road which can be difficult when it’s raining but Jean will come down to pick you up. Each of the five rooms has a different theme colour and is very tastefully designed, with floor tiles imported from Portugal and luxurious bedding and cushions from France.
There is WiFi in the dining room. All the guests have dinner at the same time at the communal dining table. The delicious Capeverdean / French / Portuguese inspired two-course dinners are cooked by Julia, who uses local produce from their garden and fresh fish and meat from Assomada.
Pousada Vassora is located in the central highlands not from from Assomada the largest market town in the centre of Santiago.
This small boutique B&B is ideally situated for exploring the Sierra Malagueta National Park and its walks, trails and wildlife.
