Overview

Make the best memories on our Cape Verde Honeymoon Adventure in 14 days.

A honeymoon like no other, this trip combines a heady island-hopping adventure experience with relaxation and beach time at the end, whilst staying in boutique-style and some off the beaten track hotels. Our guides will proudly and warmly show you their island home during your private tours, walks, and excursions.

On Santiago you can meet the locals and buy some fruit from the colourful fruit and vegetable market in Assomada and swim in Tarrafal’s pretty cove, with its white sandy beach.

On São Vicente, by day, experience an exhilarating jeep ride and tour; by night, relax with a glass of wine whilst listening to live music in one of Mindelo’s bars.

On Santo Antão, walk from the volcanic crater Cova de Paul, surrounded by cathedral-like cliff walls, down an amazing, snaking, cobbled path into the verdant Paul Valley with little villages scattered about. Enjoy a relaxing day with delicious food at the remote Kasa d’Igreja.

After all this adventure, head for Sal for a three-night stay at the elegant Morabeza, sited between the town of Santa Maria and the famous beach of Santa Maria. A perfect place to relax after your Cape Verde honeymoon adventure!

Itinerary

You'll depart from Heathrow and fly to Santiago in Cape Verde, via Lisbon. On arrival you'll be met and taken to the Oasis Atlantico where you'll stay for one night, right on the ocean front of this African-feeling city. We'll include a sea view room.
After a lovely breakfast at the Oasis Atlantico, you will be met by your English speaking guide and driven to the oldest settlement in Cape Verde - Cidade Velha. Here your guide will take you on a historic stroll to Rua Banana, the Nossa Senhora do Rosario church and the Pelourinho (pillory). You'll have lunch in the town and then drive north through green valleys and along spectacular mountain roads to your hotel on the outskirts of the mountain town of Assomada. Overnight here at the Pousada Vassora for two nights.
Your guide will pick you up again after breakfast and take you to the colourful and bustling African market in Assomada, where not only fruit and vegetables are being sold, but also chickens and other livestock. You will continue on to the Serra Malagueta Natural Park where you could do an optional short walk, if you'd like to explore by foot. Continue on to Tarrafal, where you'll have lunch and will be able to swim in the beautiful cove with its white sandy beach. Don't forget your swimming gear!
Free time until your transfer to the airport and flight to Sao Vicente. On arrival you'll be met and taken to the boutique hotel Kira's where you stay for three nights. Mindelo is a lively and friendly city - in the evening you could listen to live music in a nearby bar or restaurant. Also close to the hotel is the plaza of Amilcar Cabral, a popular spot in Mindelo where locals meet for a coffee or a chat.
After breakfast, you will be met for a three hour guided tour of Mindelo. During this walk, your guide will take you to the fish market, the harbour, the old customs house, Estrela square with the permanent market stalls, the town hall and the presidential palace. At the end of your tour, you will also visit a guitar making workshop. The rest of the day is free for you to explore - perhaps visit Mindelo's city beach of Praia da Laginha to soak up the sunshine.
Be prepared for an exhilarating day. This included full day off-road jeep tour is a great way to see parts of the island you wouldn't be able to see in a normal car. You will be visiting Palha Carga, Calhau, Sandy Beach, Praia Grande, Baia Norte, Baia das Gatas and Monte Verde. Lunch is included.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the ferry port for your one-hour ferry crossing to Santo Antao. On arrival, your guide will accompany you on a guided trip of the island. The road is said to be one of the most spectacular on the archipelago and there will be plenty photo stops to document it. There is also the opportunity to go on a short walk to the picturesque village of Fontainhas. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at Pedracin Village, where you stay for two nights. A picnic is included.
Today, you will visit Paul Valley with a guide. The greenest valley of Cape Verde is surrounded by towering cliffs and here you'll walk on ancient mule tracks and cobbled roads along the stunning tropic vegetation consisting of sugar cane, mango and dragon trees. Depending on the time of the year, you will also visit a grogue distillery. A picnic is included.
Another spectacular drive with plenty of photo stops takes you to the remote village Casa d'Igreja. Your accommodation, Kasa d'Igreja where you stay for one night is just outside the village. The rest of the day is free. You could walk to the village and mix and mingle with the locals, or wander down to the dramatic Atlantic coast (no swimming here as the currents are too strong). Or just relax in this romantic hideaway. Dinner is included.
Early morning transfer the ferry port for your crossing back to Sao Vicente. Depending on the flight to Sal, you have some free time in Mindelo before it's time for your transfer to the airport. On arrival at Sal you'll transfer to the Morabeza where you stay for three nights. Sal's a desert island and the southern beaches are absolutely stunning. Your hotel is right on the beach of Santa Maria and next to town - an ideal location!
You will be picked up from your hotel for a half day sailing trip. Lunch, drinks and appetisers are included. Don't forget your swimming wear and you may spot some dolphins as well.
Free day. You could go down to the jetty where there are many water sports activities outfitters where you can rent your body board and wind surfing gear. Or why not have a go at kite surfing or rent an electric bike. The village of Santa Maria has a great variety of restaurants and bars and the main street is a bustling place in the evenings.
Free time to relax on the beach until it's time for your transfer to the airport for your homebound flights.
